Kouichi is the older twin brother of Kouji. Until meeting in the Digital World, Kouji did not know he had a twin. Kouichi was originally under the control of Cherubimon. After falling into a coma in the human world Cherubimon brought his spirit to the Digital World where he was fused with the corrupt Spirit of Darkness. After being defeated Kouji scans the data of Duskmon and Velgmon, revealing Kouichi's human form. During a battle with a projection of Cherubimon Kouichi recieves his spirits once more but, this time they've been purified by Kouji's D-Scanner so he spirit evolves into Löwemon and KaiserLeomon. From then on he tags along with the other Chosen Children. Unknown to him is the fact that he is only a spirit in the Digital World while his body still remains in the human world.
